"New" Laura Ingalls Wilder

I was so excited when my daughter shared this article with me that details the publication of Laura Ingalls Wilder's memoir Pioneer Girl. I have loved to read for as long as I can remember. I cherish some childhood titles. I recall very well receiving for Christmas the Little House series.  I remember curling up, an 8 year old girl, in a recliner at my grandparents' house, and the modern world and the grown up laughter fading away as I became immersed in Laura's world.  Certainly the fascination was magnified with the 1974 premier of the TV series. How clearly I can remember reenacting Laura's life with my cousin Mary - could that have been more perfect?

My fascination with Laura has not faded with time.  I was thrilled to share the series with my own daughter and currently have a new boxed set all ready for my granddaughter. (Neither of my kids are even married yet).  I continue to read about her: fiction, biography, nonfiction, collections of her articles.  I am in the middle of A Wilder Rose by Susan Wittig Albert right now.  While I haven't loved it, the bits of insight into Laura Ingalls Wilder has made it worth the read,  Here, I first learned of her manuscript Pioneer Girl. I simply cannot wait to read her story, penned by her, annotated but not edited.

I will be following the Pioneer Girl blog. And pre-ordering my copy from the South Dakota Historical Society Press.  And... to come full circle - I am so excited!
