You Can't Smell the Internet!
Today was just one of those days that I absolutely loved being a high school librarian! I was working away at my desk, actually preparing the the four book talks that I have coming in the next two weeks. I have books stacked all around me, which is in and of itself fun. I have been entertained regularly by the students, and teachers, who have sorted through these piles. I don't check them out until after the book talks, but I have many requests for these same books that have (some of them) been languishing on the shelves. Funny. The group above spotted the new book box from across the library.
"Can we please look at the new books?" "They're not processed; you can't have them yet." "But can we please just look at them." "Absolutely."
I got distracted. We have kids making movies, and I was fielding some questions, working on the book talks, etc. and so on. I glanced up and these kids were smelling the books. "Nothing smells as good as a new book!" I had to agree. I am always telling the kids that you can't smell the internet, so I had to have a picture. Kids who love to read make the days perfect, hectic crazy days...for just a moment... become perfect. I loved being a librarian today!
