Undivided - Neal Shusterman

It is likely too late to legitimately review this novel, but for good reason. I couldn't get my hands on it - a happy problem for a librarian who book talks the Unwind series every chance she gets. But oh I was getting impatient! But well done Mr. Shusterman!

Some things I loved... I loved how several separate plots and subplots came together in such sensible, surprising and thought provoking ways. This conclusion lived up to this librarian's highest praise a smart book for smart kids. Readers should be inspired to question current political trends and to seriously consider their role in any change that may come. I love that he made me cry. Gasp; yes; I confess. I didn't cry when Prim died. I was irritated beyond belief when Tris died. But Connor...the unwinding it got me. Well played. I love that some of the characters experience redemption I unexpected ways - Starkey, Argent, Grace. They all have to deal with the consequences of their choices, but for each a measure of peace. Our kids need to see both sides of that equation, consequences and redemption.  And simultaneously, I love that some of the most villainous characters simply get what is coming to them - swift and stunning justice. I love that the admiral is in this book, what a way to come back. I love the renegade radio broadcasts and the coming together of all of those teens to make a difference. Teens surely need to know that they have the power to bring about change.

i can't wait to talk about this with my fellow readers! They have been waiting patiently for me to get this read. I will certainly continue to get kids reading this book. I don't always get to finish a series. Undivided was a must read for me and well worth the wait.
